Boo! This Halloween, Messenger’s Got a Surprise for You.

We know that many favorite Fall activities, including Halloween, won’t look the same this year. But just because we can’t physically be together for Halloween, doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate and have a scary good time. To help everyone have a little more fun while we’re social distancing, Messenger is rolling out a collection of exciting new artwork and AR experiences to bring a little extra virtual fun to friends, family, and trick-or-treaters no matter where you’re celebrating this year.

Come Hang Out in Our Haunted House!

For the first time ever we’re bringing our own haunted house to life (virtually of course), with special artwork and effects made just for Messenger. Each week throughout the month of October you can hang out in a different themed room of “Dr. Madhaus’s Halloween Mansion” with our animated 360 degree backgrounds and AR effects found in the Messenger camera, on video calls and in Messenger Rooms. Whether you decide to become the headless waiter in the ballroom or prefer to hang out in the laboratory with mad scientists, you’ll be able to virtually celebrate Halloween with any of your friends and family without worrying about finding a costume, doing your own makeup, or even decorating your home.

And if you want to just kick back and chat without the pressure of a video hangout, you can use our new Halloween sticker pack to share all the Halloween feels in chats with your pals.

Frankenstein & The Creature from the Black Lagoon Come to Life!

What’s more iconic to Halloween than hanging out with Frankenstein and his bride, or searching for The Creature from the Black Lagoon? To create an even richer experience, we’re also offering a selection of  never before seen 360 backgrounds and AR filters, designed in partnership with Universal Pictures and Crash McCreery, legendary character and creature designer from films like Jurassic Park, Edward ScissorHands, Batman Returns, and Pirates of the Caribbean. For the first time ever in a Messenger Room and on video calls, you’ll be able to “dress up” as Frankenstein or Bride of Frankenstein using AR filters, and feel like you’re on the set of The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

To use any of the Halloween artwork and effects simply open the Messenger app and start a video call, create a room, or take photos using the Messenger camera, and tap each of the features at the bottom of your screen. Make sure to check back regularly throughout October to see new Halloween artwork!

From all of us here at Messenger, we wish you, your family and your friends a frightening and fun-filled Halloween! For more information and updates follow @Messenger on Facebook and Instagram.
