How We Friendsgiving: Messenger Launches Series and Features to Help You Throw an Epic Feast with Friends
For many of us, Friendsgiving is the best part of the holidays: it’s a time to connect with your chosen family and cook the dishes you love before the chaos of the holiday season begins. However, for many newly minted chefs and hosts, holiday cooking and entertaining can be intimidating. This November, we want to help you have your most memorable Friendsgiving yet–whether this is your first time flexing your culinary muscle or you’ve been around the butcher’s block before! Starting today, Messenger is releasing How We Friendsgiving, a suite of features including soundmojis, stickers, and a special series on Watch Together (available on Messenger and Instagram) to help you and your crew plan the ultimate Friendsgiving.
Watch Together Friendsgiving Special
We’ve assembled our favorite Friendsgiving hosts, from our first-timer (JoJo Siwa), to expert chef (Eric Wareheim), to our seasoned group cook and host (Coi Leray); all three have come to the table with their spin on how to throw a memorable gathering. In each of their exclusive How We Friendsgiving episodes, JoJo, Eric, and Coi bring their friends and walk you through tips and tricks for cooking signature dishes, setting the vibe, and even assembling the right Friendsgiving crew.
- Episode 1: Beginner Mode with Jojo Siwa: JoJo and her best friends walk you through her first Friendsgiving meal with a simple recipe using ingredients from her home pantry. This is her spin on a holiday classic.
- Episode 2: Leveling Up Friendsgiving with Eric Wareheim: Eric shares his culinary expertise (and dank cooking tips) with his crew before showing them how to set the perfect Friendsgiving vibe. His recipe is all about family classics and cooking outside of the classic turkey and stuffing box.
- Episode 3: Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen with Coi Leray and RapTV: In collaboration with RapTV, Coi Leray and her closest friends come together to show how to compromise on ingredients when cooking for a group. They do work in the kitchen before diving into their meal!
To watch episodes with friends on Messenger simply start a video call, swipe up to access the menu, select ‘Watch Together’ and search for ‘How We Friendsgiving’. On Instagram, start a video call, tap the media button at the bottom right, select ‘Watch Together’ and browse the TV+ Movies tab for ‘How We Friendsgiving.’
JoJo is also asking fans to show their #HowWeFriendsgiving photos via Instagram Stories. To join in and share your Friendsgiving recipe, tag @JoJoSiwa and @Messenger and include #HowWeFriendsgiving. JoJo will be picking and sharing her favorites!
Friendsgiving Camera Stickers and Soundmojis
We’ve also cooked up fun new features that can be used when planning your own Friendsgiving celebration. Jojo Siwa teamed up with artist Abbey Losing and Messenger to create custom Friendsgiving camera stickers inspired by what friendship means to her. Featuring vibrant colors (which JoJo selected herself), the stickers represent colorful friendships both new and old. Starting today, we’re also releasing two new soundmojis in honor of Friendsgiving that bring the essence of Friendsgiving into your group chat (🥧 🥂 anyone?!).
To access Jojo’s Friendsgiving camera stickers, simply open the camera in the Messenger app, take photos or videos, and tap each of the featured stickers at the bottom of your screen. You can also access our Friendsgiving soundmojis by heading to your Messenger app, starting a chat, tapping the smiley face to access the expressions tray and selecting the loudspeaker icon. From there you can preview and send these gems again and again!
JoJo Connects with Her Community
JoJo joined a Messenger Video Call with members of the It Gets Better Project and Pansexual Pride Facebook Group last week to discuss themes around friendship and her journey coming out. On Wednesday, November 17th at 12:00 p.m. PST, Pansexual Pride Facebook Group will publish highlights from the conversation, including how connecting with chosen family and being an ally to others is especially important throughout the holiday season. You can also check out the Facebook App page starting at 9:00 a.m. PST on November 18 to watch the conversation.
Friendsgiving is an ideal time to be with the people you’re closest with, and we’re excited to help you get in the spirit of the holiday. From the Messenger team, gobble gobble and happy holidays! 🦃
