Spread the Love with Messenger This Valentine’s Day
Calling all friends and lovers: Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and Messenger has you covered with new features that help you feel all the feels, no matter your relationship status. From voice message controls and disappearing messages to splitting payments and digital valentines, Messenger can help you spread the love and stay connected to friends and family. 💌
Say ‘I Love You’ with New Audio Features
Some send flowers, chocolates or cards as a symbol of their love, but nothing is more powerful than saying and hearing those three special words. When you can’t be together in person, check out some of the audio features we’re adding to help you craft the perfect V-Day voice message for friends and family:
- We’re giving you the ability to pause, preview, delete, or continue recording a voice message before sending.
- Sometimes, a minute isn’t enough to capture your thoughts. That’s why we’re increasing the duration of voice messages from 1 minute to 30 minutes. Think of all the monologues you can send with that 🎙.
Shoot Your Shot with Vanish Mode
Ready to shoot your shot but worried about the read receipts? Vanish Mode lets you message your crush without having to dwell on the chat history – messages disappear after they’re seen and you leave the chat. And if you can’t find the right words, you can also send disappearing memes, GIFs, stickers or reactions.
To turn on vanish mode, open an existing chat thread on your mobile device and swipe up. Swipe up again, and you’re back to your regular chat.
Split the Galentine’s Bill with Split Payments
Tired of figuring out the best way to share expenses among friends and family? With Split Payments in Messenger, you can now split expenses – from gifts to Galentine’s Day dinner – right in group chats – without fees! To use Split Payments, tap the + icon in a group chat and select the payments tab, then tap the “Get started” button. From there you can split your bill evenly or customize the amount each person owes. Then, enter a personalized message, confirm your payment details, and send the request. Friends who are new to payments in Messenger can easily add payment details to send and receive money. Split Payments is now available in the US on iOS and Android phones.
Send Digital Valentines on Messenger Kids
For little ones who want in on the fun, Messenger Kids is launching new artwork to help kids celebrate Valentine’s Day with close family and friends. Starting today, kids can share virtual valentines with approved contacts using new AR effects, photo frames and sticker packs. Try shooting arrows as baby cupid, dancing around as the Queen of Hearts, or adding a sweet touch with glowing heart cheeks. Parents can also help kids decorate photos with new frames and Valentine’s Day stickers – just open the camera in the Messenger Kids app to get started.
We hope these features help you express your love with the people who matter the most. From the Messenger team, Happy Valentine’s Day ❤️
