Small Businesses That Inspire Us: The Coil Brush & Manifest It, Sis!
Today, Messenger is excited to shine a light on two Women-owned small businesses that you can support not just this month, but every day. The Coil Brush is an innovative hair styling company catering to multicultural hair textures, and Manifest It, Sis! is an empowering podcast and 1:1 coaching practice designed to help people shift their energy so they can manifest the life they envision.
For founder Renita Farrington, kick-starting The Coil Brush in 2019 began with a need to fill a void in her own hair styling routine. “As a wife and mother of three juggling a job, kids in sports, and other responsibilities, I didn’t have the time to commit to a lengthy hair styling process each day. So I looked at my styling routine and figured out where I could save the most time. For me, that was in the detangling and styling phase—if only I had the right tool,” says Renita. After Renita received similar feedback from family and friends about their own styling routines, the rest was history. Since then, she has created a thriving business of custom styling tools for people with naturally curly, coarse, and kinky hair textures, including her most popular product, the O.G. Fingertip Hair Brush.
The Coil Brush leverages Messenger to take orders and develop relationships with new customers from all over the country. Renita credits connecting with her customers via Messenger as a way to build sales momentum and “close the loop” with people that are still in the deciding phase—especially during the pandemic when more customers have been spending time online.
“That feeling when you’re having a great hair day or when you’re wearing your hair in its natural state and you feel beautiful (or handsome) and confident – that’s what it’s really about for me. I want people to look in the mirror and love what they see. Our products have a purpose that goes beyond just being a comb or brush,” says Renita.
Dani Faust began Manifest it, Sis! in 2009 out of a passion for sharing lifestyle content focused on personal development. “I didn’t know content creation could be a business, then all of a sudden I was a blogger–from there, coaching sprang up almost naturally,” says Dani. In 2011 Dani received her first coaching certification, and now runs a thriving 1:1 and group coaching practice and successful podcast of the same moniker. Through these mediums, Dani shares personal development, self care strategies, manifesting tips, and intuitive guidance to help people build and achieve their goals.
“I love seeing the transformation my clients go through as they work with me. It’s just so beautiful to watch someone begin to love themself more and recognize their power and worthiness,” says Dani.
Dani also leverages Messenger to reach her clients across the globe, and to connect with them one on one. “I’ve been using Messenger to help build my business for as long as I’ve been online. I love how it speeds up the ‘know, like, trust’ factor with potential clients and helps me produce sales and offer quotes to clients more quickly and efficiently,” says Dani.
